Ubuntu

Ubuntu is a Debian-based Linux operating system built on free and open-source software. It is developed by Canonical, a UK-based company, together with a global contributor community operating under a merit-based governance model.

Ubuntu is available in several official editions, including Desktop, Server, and Ubuntu Core, designed for IoT and robotic systems.

The platform follows a predictable six-month release cycle, with Long-Term Support (LTS) versions released every two years. Canonical maintains each release with security updates and support until its end-of-life, with extended coverage available through Ubuntu Pro and Expanded Security Maintenance (ESM).
